February 7 - 9th, Savannah, GA We'll leave out on Thursday morning and spend 4 days in the Savannah area. I am working with a Marina to try and set up a sightseeing / photo tour of the barrier islands. We will also visit a railroad museum with a live engine turnaround. We will shoot some street scenes, cityscapes, and hopefully make it back to Bonaventure Cemetery. We will be staying at the Promenade Hotel in the historic district with a rate of $99 per night. If you would like to go and have not yet booked a room, you can call 1-912-233-1011. Be sure and tell them you are with the Cherokee Photography Club so that you can get the group rate. March 15th - Eureka Foundry, Chattanooga We'll tour the Eureka Foundry in Chattanooga, TN. The tour starts at 10:00 am, so we'll leave Canton around 8:30 am. I'm not sure how much of the foundry will be operating on a Saturday, but I've been told that there are a lot of things to photograph. After lunch we can also see the Chattanooga Aquarium. We've been to Chattanooga several times but have not been in the Aquarium. I'm trying to get us a group rate there and will pass that information on if it works out for us. April 18th and 19th, Tremont / Cades Cove TN We'll leave out on Friday Morning and drive up to Townsend, TN. We will be staying at the Tally Ho Inn. We'll spend a day in Tremont, shooting on the river and trails in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and one day in Cades Cove. May 3rd - Georgia Native Botanical Gardens Set on 4 acres in Decatur, the gardens offer a huge variety of plants and flowers that are native to Georgia. There is a fern glade and there are trails and natural areas. There is no admission charge but donations are appreciated. They will be having a plant sale that day so if you enjoy gardening and flowers bring your checkbook. June 14 - 22nd, Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Teton National Park We will fly into Jackson Hole, WY and drive through Yellowstone. We will be staying in West Yellowstone, MT. We'll spend two days in Yellowstone, then take a day off to drive through Idaho and the back side of the Tetons. We are planning to go on a Cowboy Cookout in Lamar Valley in Yellowstone, and spend two more days inside the park before going back to Jackson. We have two days to see the Grand Tetons and Jackson area before flying back home. This should be a fabulous trip with incredible scenery and photo opps. July - Rome Braves Back by popular demand, we'll attend a game at Rome Stadium to watch the Braves. Most home games are on Thursday nights and that has worked out well for us in the past. I won't be able to secure an exact date until closer to time for the event, so watch your email if you are interested in attending. August 23, Scavenger Hunt in Chattanooga, TN. Chattanooga is only about an hour and a half north of Canton, so we can either drive up and back, or stay the night. I have a new scavenger hunt list to provide us with some challenging photography. Chattanooga is always beautiful and fun-filled. You can also visit the aquarium and several other area attractions. September - Chicago Dates and information to be announced. October 25th - Anna Ruby Falls This should be a wonderful place to spend a Saturday in October. Cooler temperatures and falling leaves will be great. There are plenty of picnic tables so bring your lunch and we'll eat at the park. There are 1600 acres of natural forest and the waterfalls are great. November 8 - Rocktown In Lafayette - halfway between here and Chattanooga - Rocktown provides ruins of many old rock buildings. It's also a prime spot for rock climbers. I've contacted a couple of climbing clubs, so hopefully we'll have some live action to shoot in addition to the ruins. I'll have more information on that later in the year.
